My Approach

Let's see if we're a good fit, shall we?

If you're going to read anything on my website, I'd say this page is it! It's all about how I work and why I work the way I do. What I'm looking out for when I'm documenting your wedding and what you can come to expect from my work. There are many photographers out there and I think it's important to find the right one for you. When I'm asked about what you should be asking a photographer, I always turn it round. Do you like their work and do you like them?

"I actually can't get over how many epic shots emily gets of the dance floor, can we bring her with us to every wedding?"

Kind Words from the industry

"A DREAM TO WORK WITH, SHE CONTINUALLY PRODUCES SOME OF MY FAVOURITE IMAGES'

How I interpret, document + photograph weddings.

Capturing the atmosphere

I'm looking to capture the real feel of your day, not create a staged photoshoot. When you get your images back, I want you to be reminded of how your day felt. I'm keeping an eye out for those glints in a loved ones eyes, those big hugs, cheeky grins, sneaky tears and cackles of laughter. A wedding day is full of so many emotions, and I want to get those on camera. It's all about capturing the moment for me. I believe these are the images you'll treasure in years to come.

I love weddings that are full of fun, colour & creativity.

I love capturing personalities on camera and everything that is about the couple. A wedding is a representation of the couple, their family and friends. I see a wedding day as a lovely ceremony, and then one hell of a party to celebrate with all those that are special to them. My editing style lends its self to really showing off colour and light and that's something I'm always looking out for when I'm shooting.

I love a good sunset

I'm always keeping an eye on the light and I'll let you know if I've spotted a good opportunity for some time out in the evening to get a few more shots with some stunning light. Theres something pretty magical about a good sunset and taking some time out to enjoy one on a wedding day. My couples always comment on what a great part of the day it was and the images we got as a result of escaping for a few quiet moments.

The euphoria of the dance floor

Weddings don't finish at the first dance, some of the fun has only just begun. I like to stay on beyond the first dance to get some of that dance floor action. Those moments when perhaps all inhibitions have been set aside and your guests are just having the best time ever and busting all the moves! Dance floors can be full of all sorts of brilliant moments, light and colour!

How does the process work?

Before the day

01.

If you like what you see, get in touch and let's have a chat. I always like to have a catch up to chat through your day and just get to know each other a bit! I'm also always happy to help out in anyway I can including recommending suppliers I've worked with too. If we're a good fit and once you're booked in I'll catch up with you in the weeks before your wedding to run through the final details.

On the day

02.

On the day I aim to be a bit of a ninja in the background! I'll be around capturing what's going on in the morning (if that's your cup of tea) through to your ceremony. I like to let you mingle and say hello to your guests for a bit once you've tied the knot, rather than rushing you off for photos straight away, this is a great time for some natural shots with your family and friends. When they time's right I'll give you a tap on the shoulder to head out for some portraits. I like to keep this nice and relaxed and fun. It's simply a walk for no more than 15-20 minutes to grab that we just got married look! I don't like to pose you, simply guide you. Then it's back to the party to mingle with your guests and grab any important shots with family and friends. I always like to get these done in a fun and quick way. Let's be honest, no one likes standing around for ages on a wedding day posing for photos. The one time I won't take any photos is whilst you're sitting down for your wedding breakfast, no ones going to frame that shot of someone shoving food in the mouth and put it above the mantlepiece! As the rest of the day flows I'll be there to photograph it all, especially all those wonderful speech reactions, right through to the dance floor! I'll give you another tap on the shoulder come golden hour (the last hour of sunlight) this is usually a great time for a few more photos and all my couples love it as a bit of time out and a moment to reflect on the day!

After the day

03.

After your wedding I'm busy backing up those photos and getting on with the edit! I'll have some previews in your inbox in the first couple days for you to enjoy and share whilst I get on with the full edit. In peak times I aim to turn the edit round about 8 weeks after your day. I deliver all edited images to you, I don't put a cap on the number of images I deliver, as far as I'm concerned, you've commissioned me to document your day and I like to keep things simple.
